03.08.03 at 11:48 PM GK3 and Templars. I went to see 28 Days Later at the theater today, and the particular showing of it that I saw supposedly had an alternate ending than the original version. The movie was really riveting. It did rather remind me of I Am Legend. Well, sort of. But the mood and atmosphere of the movie was great; it seemed as if I could be in the movie I was so immersed in it. I was rarely aware that I was sitting in the theater. The whole idea of the movie is frightening, however. I did not end up finishing Othello. I am making a goal that I will definitely finish it tomorrow if not tonight. I have just been so wrapped up in other things that I have not read a lot for the past few days. I think I am halfway though the play now, though. I like how Iago manipulates Roderigo. Honestly, without Iago, the whole thing would be boring, I think. I really do not like movies or books or plays whose interest from the public depends on one character. I do not like that sort of thing at all. I began playing Gabriel Knight III again. I am fascinated by Templar myths, and so this GK game especially interests me. Speaking of which, I just started watching a documentary type movie on the Knights Templar that my mother bought me which is extremely fascinating. I am about a third of the way through it so far. It is so interesting. I do wonder how they were able to start with such a low number of people in their ranks, and then to suddenly grow to be large and prosperous with many recruits, having buildings all over and so forth. GK3 suggests that they found certain valuable Christian artifacts (such as the grail) and that is the reason for their sudden success. I do not know if that is true or not, however. But the whole idea of the Knights Templar is romantic. These men give up everything they have to join this group of warrior monks who protect pilgrims who are traveling to visit the holy lands. Well, that is how they were at first, anyway. Then they grew, of course. I am not overly familiar with them yet, but I hope to gain more knowledge of them as I continue my research. I created a fanart gallery in my Elfwood art account, though it is still in the queue, and should be there for several more days. However, when it gets out of the queue, I will tell everyone so they can see a few pieces of fanart that I have done. Though I do believe that all four of them I have already posted here at one time or another, but still. Oh, Ian has been playing GK3 with me, so that has been an added enjoyment for me. He is especially fond of taking fingerprints from various objects. He does not like Sidney very much, though ^_^. My dad has been talking like Gabriel today (He's been saying 'merci' like "maaare-saay' ^_^) because he has been on his computer in here and has had to listen to us playing it all day. Oh! Also, today while playing GK3, I noticed theDune reference! I did not notice it when I played it the first time (though I do not know why; it is rather obvious), but I did notice it this time! It is when Gabriel is asking Wilkes about his machinery. Gabe asks if the machine is a giant worm thumper, saying things like, "Is anything headed this way? Should we hit the rocks?" and "Oh, no! A giant worm! Grab the harpoons!" or something to that effect, which pissed Wilkes off a bit ^_^;. I do not remember exactly what Gabe said, but close enough. I thought that was rather amusing. Amazing the things you notice when you play a game a second time through, though. Anyway, I have to exercise for 20 more minutes today, so I am going to do that now while watching more of the Templar film. Talk to everyone later ^_^. -Leah |
